Do I Need a Foundation for My Shed?
A proper foundation can extend the lifespan of your shed and provide long-term stability, but whether you need one depends on the size of your structure. At Summit Structures, we do not require a foundation for sheds smaller than 12×24′, though we highly recommend it for better durability and performance. Regardless of whether a pad is used, we deliver and set up your shed, ensuring it is properly leveled before we leave.
For sheds larger than 12×24′, we require a gravel or concrete pad to maintain structural integrity and protect your investment. If choosing gravel, we require 4 to 6 inches of packed, laser-leveled road mix. Alternatively, a 4 to 6-inch concrete pad can also be used. Blocking buildings over 12 inches and larger than 12×24′ will void the 12-year warranty, so a proper foundation is essential.
